14 to 15 September 2013 in Gerola Alta (Sondrio) –
Gerola Alta in Valtellina is home to this year’s “Festival of Bitto” The Festival takes place on 14 and 15 September, and promotes the famous local cheese “Bitto”, recognized as the king of cheese production Valtellina PDO (protected designation of origin).
The traditional event that has been taking place for over thirty years in Gerola Alta on the third Sunday of September, aims to promote the famous cheese typical of the area, aroma and unmistakable flavor, produced on the pastures during the summer.
On the occasion of the festival and in the days that precede exhibitions are organized, through which volunteers and supporters will give their best to enhance a small town and a valley rich in tradition and history.
August 31-September 1st, 2013 in Cocconato d’Asti –
Cocco… Wine, consolidated event organized by Go Wine Monferrato with the support and collaboration of the City of Cocconato, is back from 31 August to 1 September.
The beauties of the town will be enhanced in two days of celebration through tastings and insights, guests and music that will invade the historic center once again confirming the tourist, the quality wine-growing and wine-making ambitions of what is known historically as the “Riviera of Monferrato”
Saturday, August 31 (from 17 to 24) and Sunday September 1 (from 16 to 20), the center will host the tables for tasting wines and typical products of the companies of Cocconato, Monferrato and visiting delegations.
The event, which saw increasing results in terms of public and exhibiting companies, represents an opportunity to enhance the wine-growing territory of Cocconato and the typical products that are part of the heritage of this land.
The six wineries Cocconato, along with some guests will fill the tasting table set up along Via Roma: a virtual wine route, in which the samples will be alternated tastings of typical products.
July 30 to September 1, 2013 in Padua
Padua is home to “Notturni d’Arte 2013”: a series of initiatives that present to the public the story of the origins of the ancient civilizations of the Venetians.
Tours led by art historians and experts in the area and enlivened by performances and literary readings will lead visitors to the knowledge of ancient Venetians through the discoveries during the centuries from the ground, still prodigal of surprises, and the most significant places of Roman Padua and Early Christian age.
Among the places included in the 2013 program are the Venetkens Show at the Palazzo della Ragione, the archaeological area of Maldura Palace, the Roman amphitheater, the Museum of archaeological science and art of the Department of Antiquity, University of Padova, the Shrine of st. Prosdocimus in the Basilica of st. Justina, the St. Nicholas Church. Sofia and the Cathedral.
At the closing night on September 1, the Civic Wind Orchestra of Padua organizes a concert at the Castle Carrara.
August 30- September 1st in Sarzana (La Spezia)
Sarzana hosts the Festival of the Mind, the first festival in Europe dedicated to creativity and creative processes, design and direction of Giulia Cogoli, promoted by the Fondazione Cassa di Risparmio della Spezia and the City of Sarzana.
The history of the festival began in 2004 as a project of deepening and cultural sharing, cultivated and grown steadily until today: the event in the past ten years has proposed 650 meetings, involved a total of 500 speakers and more than 4,000 young volunteers, with a successful public more and more. In nine previous editions has recorded some 300,000 visitors, from 12,000 to 42,000 in the first of 2012.
The festival is meant as a crossroads between humanistic and scientific knowledge through intellectual and artistic reflections on the theme of the creative process: between 90 lectures, performances and workshops specially made by some of the most significant thinkers Italians and foreigners.
This year the festival is scheduled from August 30 to September 1. Among the guests there will be Guido Rossi, Toni e Peppe Servillo, Alessandro Bergonzoni, Lella Costa, Stefano Bartezzaghi, Massimo Cacciari.
July 26 to August 11, 2013 Ventimiglia (Imperia) –
Ventimiglia, province of Imperia, hosts to the new edition of ‘”August medieval“, a major event to be held from 26 July to 11 August.
Every year, at the end of July and during the month of August, the history becomes the protagonist and the Medieval City regains atmospheres that seem never forgotten.
Hundreds of people liven up the magnificent historical center, bringing the visitor into the atmosphere of the Middle Ages, with the figures in historical dress, carried out at night, based on a different theme each year.
You can visit taverns, see musicians, fire-eaters and jugglers, the medieval market, but also the typical, with a visit to the monuments of ancient instruments and concerts. The Regatta of goiters Ligurian rewards the citizens of the districts with the first-come Carbaso.
