September 15, 2013 in Asti –
As every year, here comes the appointment with the famous Palio di Asti: the race and everything that surrounds it will take shape this year on Sunday 15 September.
The element that most fascinates many visitors who attend the Palio is the parade of more than twelve hundred people in medieval costumes.
The accuracy of historical re-enactments reviewed by a committee of experts, the quality of the costumes and the skill of the tailors in the village faithfully reproduce the styles of clothes taking them with frescoes and paintings make the parade a truly unique show.
The tableaux vivants that make up the parade represent actual events of history of Asti: you will therefore remove nobles and commoners, soldiers and higher clergy, knights and ladies who will one day return to live in the city telling the daily lives of more than seven centuries.
August 4, in La Spezia
“Palio del Golfo” of La Spezia is coming: the event takes place every year on the first Sunday of August in the waters off the promenade of the city of La Spezia. The rowing contest between 13 boats similar to the national goiter but handmade by local artisans with unique features that make them more agile and fast.
The Palio is born probably from impromptu games between the crews of boats loaded with fish or the ancient “black gold” of the Gulf of La Spezia: mussels or “muscles” as they are better known in the whole of the Gulf.
Major challenges as the victory was not then a sporting victory but could not afford the priority of unloading at the quay of the catch or the product transported, thereby increasing the possibility of gain or while still allowing you to enjoy with a little advance well-earned rest.
Even today, the event is lived with passion by all citizens and especially by the inhabitants of the modern districts or townships renowned Countries – overlooking the sea in Portovenere, Le Grazie, Fezzano, Cadimare, Marola, CRDD, Canaletto, Fossamastra, Muggiano San Terenzo, Venere Azzurra, Lerici and Tellar.
