Spilimbergo hosts the XXII edition of the Historical Re-enactment of Macia, a traditional event which takes its name from the ancient measure of length for cloth, the Macia in fact, in use in Spilimbergo (certified in 1438), a copy of which is engraved on the pillar of the Palace the loggia in the Piazza del Duomo.
The event recreates the atmosphere of the daily life of the city, one of the most important political and cultural in Friuli, in the early sixteenth century. In particular, the event repeats the performance in key events of the city in the period in which they were lords young brothers Roberto and Adriano Spilimbergo.
The arcades will host the workshops with their wares and inns to refresh visitors. In the squares and along the way you will see the common people engaged in spending, the bourgeoisie who treat their business, the nobles and the beggars who walk bothering passers-by for alms.
And in this motley crowd entering the singers and the artists who make their living with their histrionic capabilities, while on watch all the warriors of the count, camped in the courtyard of the castle, archers and soldiers of Captain Theodore Earth.
